Simple Secrets to a Happy Life

I chose to read Simple Secrets to a Happy Life as my next BookSneeze review title because I have heard lots of good things about Luci Swindoll and her writing! I knew she was a woman full of wisdom that also wrote with a great sense of humor.

What really caught my eye was the little yellow circle on the front of the book that says, "50 ways to make the most of everyday." That sounds good to me, what about you? I find that I do not "cherish the moment" and live in the moment as much as I'd like to...so I thought this book might be helpful and encouraging in that regard!

While this book was full of wisdom from Luci Swindoll, I didn't consider her tips to really be "secrets." :) I admit it, I was hoping for something new to try...some practical ways to cherish the moments of my days. I enjoyed the wisdom that she shared, but I just didn't feel like I got any insight into enjoying my days more. (maybe I really am a helpless cause when it comes to living in the moment!! ha!)

I did like the fact that each of these chapters was short and sweet. This would be a great book to leave laying out and pick up through your day to catch a little snippet of wisdom. As a mom, I often can't handle books that have really.long.chapters. I just can't read it all in one sitting! And then by the time I pick it up again, I have forgotten the beginning of the chapter! So, this book is great for busy moms like me who only can read a few pages at a time!

I'm going to fill you in on a little secret or two. But I'm not going to give away all 50 secrets...just a few to let you know a little more about the book!!

A few secrets to help you enjoy your days a little more:
  • be on time for everything
  • read your Bible everyday
  • stay proactive about your health
  • remember to notice things today
  • cook something special for yourself
  • forgive others over and over
  • give your time, energy and money
While I agree with most of the "secrets" found in this book, I just wasn't "wowed" so to speak. If you, however, are looking for some simple things to add to your life - maybe even things you already do - to be reminded to cherish each day and make it wonderful, this might be the book for you!!
